[Mid Week Inspiration] To Succeed in Life/Business…..

Circumstances varies for different people and the are locked in situations they never imagined they would ever be but, they say life happens when we don’t make plans and I dare say even when we do make plans and don’t follow through, life still happens .
To succeed in life you must have some basic facts
1. Not everyone will like your dream
2. Not everyone will believe in your dream
3. Not everyone will be happy to see you succeed
4. Don’t base the possibility of your success on other people’s approval of your dream.
5. The only person that needs to believe in your dream without any reasonable doubt is yourself.
6. Trust only in God when all else fails
7. Make sure the dream that you have is not the wish and desire of your parents or some else. You just might spend the better part of your life pursuing a path that is not yours. This is definitely double jeopardy.
8. Enjoy working on your dream. Don’t make it look like life has dealt you a hard blow.
9. Live with intention daily
In working with women I have come to realise three strong factors that are obstacles to their success as entrepreneurs.
1. Trust and believe in themselves and their dreams – Until you believe in yourself and your dream you cannot carry others along.
2. Lack of commitment to follow through on their goal/plans - Without total commitment no one can fully achieve their goals
3. Lack funds to run their business – Funds are most times in short supply
If you desire to succeed never make any excuses step on any obstacles as they shoot at you. You can succeed you just have to keep going even when you don’t feel like. But then what has your feelings got to do with it, just keep going and never let your eyes off your WHY and the big picture.
Looking forward to your comments.

Stop Press: Ain’t No Such Thing as Overnight Success in Business
Justin Beiber’s ‘Never say never’ is playing on TV. This is my first time of hearing him sing and there was a documentary about his early childhood. Justin started drumming on any thing as early as 3years old and his mother had to get him a drum. In the ‘Never say Never’ documentary he mentioned that he played on the streets at some point and also appeared on radio programs and gradually started tweeting about which radio station he will be playing next so the crowd of young people started gathering. His mother was always posting his videos on ‘youtube’. The rest is history. Is Justin Beiber an overnight success? Certainly not. So how did this young boy at 17 get to this place of success?
I will like to summarise his rise to success in 8 simple steps.
1. He started early
2. He developed his skills – Playing the drum, guitar and piano
3. He broadcasted himself through the social media
4. His talent grew
5. He delivered when it was necessary
6. He got noticed
7. He got a voice coach and people to manage him; nothing is taken for granted
8. He hit it big time
Justin Beiber is a successful singer and he started preparing since he was 3 years old. He got a record contract at age 13.
Why do we believe emails that say ‘I just made 50,000 cash in 5 minutes. Send your email and I will show you how I cracked the money code’. What is a money code? Is there money somewhere waiting to be cracked without working for it?
Listen, there is no such thing as instant or overnight success. Every step we take on the way to success is deliberate and leads to results.
Take a few minutes and study 12 steps I have listed below to explain how one can work on achieving success. I am in no way saying that there must be 12 steps but there are some basic things we must have in place to achieve success.
1. Discover your business idea
2. Test your idea
3. Develop your idea
4. Set up your business
5. Work on your business
6. Get the word out there
7. Work with a coach or a mentor
8. Listen to your coach/mentor and act on what they tell you
9. Each day repeat the required action steps
10. Be authentic and give the best service and product
11. You might strike once and one satisfied customer refer you
12. You build on that opportunity and the rest is your success story
Success is not an overnight phenomenon, you have to work on it. Success is built on success. Don’t give up on yourself if one method doesn’t work, regroup and strategize again. But don’t ever believe that success will land on your laps overnight.

Pamela
Achieving Success through Deliberate Steps
‘What a man can conceive he can achieve’. This is a profound statement but, for you to achieve anything in business or in your life you must be deliberate in your actions. Success doesn’t come to you without an input from you.
In retrospect, I have had instances where I had wonderful opportunities staring at me without me knowing it was there. Sometimes it takes the help of other people to point it out. To achieve anything in life you must do the following.
1. You must recognize what is before you or in your mind is an opportunity or a possibility. And be willing to take it no one is going to force you into it. To achieve success you must take deliberate steps.
2. You must accept this opportunity and embrace it as your own not some else’s. It must hold a place in your heart for you to go for it. Be willing to do what takes to make the opportunity succeed. Treat an opportunity like a new relationship be excited and passionate about it.
3. When you are clear that you have an opportunity before you to achieve something. The next thing is to make a plan as to how you will get the business or project started. This opportunity could be starting a new business or a new project in an existing business. Without a plan in place, you are planning to fail. Planning provides a logical way to achieve success. A plan is a road map learn to use it.
4. The next thing is to manage your plan properly. Breakdown the business/project into manageable daily, weekly tasks as the case may be. Set timelines and try to stick to them. Do you have the skills that this opportunity requires or the finances to get it done? All these should be part of your plan. Don’t forget to set up a productivity plan. Our lives are filled with various activities if you do not manage your time correctly, you will achieve only little from all you have planned. The achievement of your small tasks brings you closer to the realization of your dream/goal.
Taking the first steps of an opportunity is always the most difficult thing. What comes next will gradually lead you to success. Learn to look at life with an opportunistic eye. Anything is possible believe first with your heart and permit yourself to take the opportunity before you.

Pamela

Success On My Own Terms
2010 is almost gone and no better time than now to evaluate how your year has fared. What have you accomplished or still hope to accomplish before 2010 is over. I know for most people there might have been a shift in some old concept and beliefs. For me the meaning of success has been renewed.
I had always viewed success as having great wealth at one’s disposal and being a top-gun in your profession. I started this year as a successful 6 figure earning career woman who struggled with finding meaning with what I was daily engaged in as against really going out there to live my purpose. I had been contemplating leaving my job. It took me a year to finally take the decision to leave my job and start my own business and spend quality time with my kids and husband.
If you are to define my success so far by my earlier definition then I will be a far cry from what I earlier believed. But right now I have the gift of time; I spend quality time with my kids in the morning before dropping them off at school and after school we spend time finding out how their day has been and I go through their daily activities. I am able to know what is going on in their young lives as it’s happening – which is important to me. This was absolutely impossible before I started my own business. Our schedule was 5.30am – depart for school and 8pm arrive from school and work.
Through my business, I have been able help women discover their purpose, start a business – this is most fulfilling to me. I have featured in radio interviews.
I am able to be there for friends and family who may need my support or assistance and also spend time on my business.
We recently discovered my younger son had a health condition that saw us in hospital at odd hours like 1am, 6am all in one day. I didn’t have to call in sick or with an excuse, I am my own boss.
I am grateful for the opportunity to live life on my own terms. My son’s health has been restored because we were able to figure out what triggered the problem in the first place.
My business has given me a new lifestyle of purpose and clarity. I am able to spend quality time with people that matter the most in my life and that to me is being successful on my own terms. What about you? What is your definition of success? I would like to hear from you.

A 90 day Action Plan For Success
A life of purpose of following one’s dreams and aspirations is what everyone wants. A meaningful life that is not depicted in struggles and moving in circles. Everyone longs for this. But the million dollar question is how do you move from dreaming to becoming? How do you live your best life?
The first step is deciding to go on a quest for your life purpose. Define it, make a plan and live the life. Until you make the decision to do something it will always remain just what you would love to do in some distant weeks, month, this year or some other time.
We are now in the last lap of the year. This is a good time to set a 90 day action plan / challenge for your self maybe in business or a life plan. This is a good time to evaluate what your year has been like. Make a decision on what you want to accomplish before the year ends.
The 90 day plan should not be a long list of activities or to do. Keep it simple between 3 – 5 goals that you will be able to work on achieving with an honest best effort in place. I have got about 5 goals to accomplish as part of my 90 day plan.
So, let’s make a list of the goals. Include the daily actions / task that you will take to set them in motion. Don’t forget to set realistic time line within which the goals should be accomplished.
I look forward to hearing from you. We will talk about our progress in 30days for our first check point/feedback.
I am counting on your success.

Confronting Your Fears
I was watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon movie with my kids and in this episode;
Jerry summoned courage and asked Tom ‘why do you pursue me every time’?
Tom answered ‘I don’t know why’
Jerry’s response ‘was well it has got to stop because I have as much right as you in this house’ .
This was a profound response to me.
How often do you and I feel pursued and harassed by fears, frustrating situations daily? This has become like a merry go round for us and succeeding becomes a mirage.
This weekend I want you to take a mini treat and write down those things that you feel is harassing and frustrating you in business or any aspect of life and just like Jerry say; ‘ I have as much right to success, peace and joy as every other person’ Don’t wait to be handed your success manual, take it.
Start the coming week with a breath of fresh air both in business and every aspect of life.

Dressing for success
Success consists of doing the common things of life
uncommonly well – Unknown
Success is an event that accomplishes it intended purpose. Success is a state of prosperity or fame.
Dressing for success literally and figuratively speaking must start from the inside out. It starts from your mindset. To attain success in life you must see yourself in your mind’s eye as been successful.
Choosing to be successful is a choice you make daily by the way to carry yourself.
Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do – Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe.
Success has gone beyond Knowing and wanting to be a success. Your mind must be willing to move from the state of fear to a state can do and daily embracing the opportunities to excel in what ever you seek to achieve in business, and life.
The road to success is always under construction – Anonymous
If one possesses a limiting mind, fear and a myopic view concerning success it is like hitting a brick wall.
It might not always look interesting but when you remove fear and daily make a commitment to succeed no matter how difficult this might be. When the mind is conquered of fear everything becomes possible to achieve.
Attitude – The attitude that we carry around as entrepreneurs matters a lot. It determines our habits and actions.
No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars or sailed to an uncharted land or opened a new heaven to the human spirit – Helen Keller
An attitude of despair will not produce success. Work on your attitude daily and see the positive side of life.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow -Helen Keller
Your attitude determines your altitude.
Dressing for success includes having a strong desire/ determination for success- Your definiteness of purpose helps to push you on the part of success no matter how uninviting it may be.
Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal – Earl Nightingale.
What worthy ideal are you working on? You must be determined to achieve your desired success. Success does not come in a platter of gold. You attract success with your attitude, desire and mindset daily.
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing – Helen Keller
