Setting Your Goals For 2010
It has been proven that written goals are more likely to be achieved than unwritten goals. People who write down their goals are more successful socially, emotionally and financially than people that don’t have their goals written down.
The much awaited and anticipated New Year for new beginnings – 2010 is here.
What is the difference between a written goal and an unwritten goal you might want to ask? The power of vision cannot be over emphasized. The brain cannot remember all it sees every day no matter how intriguing and spectacular the event might have been. There is always a limit to what you can remember. It is very important that you put down your goals in writing.
- · What plans do you have for your business in 2010?· What pattern of growth do you have planned out for growing your business this year?
· Have you decided that this is the year you want to start your business career?
This year as a business woman or a would-be business woman I would advice that you take time to write down your business goals and visions. Make sure the goals you set for yourself /or business are;
1. Achievable – Do not set a vague goal that you won’t be able to achieve. Break the goal into smaller tasks that you will carryout everyday for a certain period that will lead to you achieving what you set out to do. See your goals as projects and the tasks as mini projects within the bigger project.
2. Have Timeline – dates / period within which you will achieve the set goals. I would advice that you break down your goals within the 4 quarters of the year. Do your best to achieve your goals within the set timeline. If by any chance you are not able to achieve your goal within your set period don’t let this set you back. Make sure you are channelling your energy and resources to achieving your goals.
3. Measurable – Make sure the goals you set can be measured. This is very important as only when your goals can be measured will you be able to determine with certainty whether or not you are on cause to achieving your goal.As an entrepreneur or an aspiring entrepreneur, I would advice that you get a vision board. A vision board helps to visualize your goals and end results. You can get a vision board from the internet. When you get a vision board print it out and put it somewhere you can see it every day. The things you have written on the board and the pictures on the board will continually remind you of what your goals are and as such you will channel your energy and resources to achieving your goal.
It has also been said that people without business goals end up working for those who have goals.
This year, decide as early as possible what you want to achieve in your business and start working on it.
This is to your success in 2010.
