[Repost] 8 Productivity Tips to Move your Business Forward

I recently attended a Teleseminar on productivity organised by Helen Raptoplous aka the productivity lady. Helen has been running the 30 days productivity challenge since January. It is quite challenging and motivating.
I would like to share with you some of the tips; I took away from the Teleseminar.

The simple definition of productivity is – Taking control of your schedule. If you don’t plan your day according to the activities you want to get done for the day you just get busy and not really achieve anything.

• To be productive you must be focused on your plan or activity for the day.
• When you make a list of what needs to get done always give priority to those things that will make you achieve your get goal for the day. Don’t get distracted by projects that you haven’t scheduled for the day.
• Start your day with a list of at least 4 things you want to get done. Make the list before you go to bed the previous night. This way you start the day with a strong intention
• Break down your tasks to byte sizes. Then make a list of the action that will accomplish each task. As I write this piece my alarm is set for a specific time within which I will get this piece done and I can either take a break or do something else. No task should take more than 60 minutes to get done on your list.
• Don’t start a new project in the middle of an existing project. Get one done first.
• Do those tasks that take less time to get done.
• Take time to make a list of your regular activities like social networking, mailing your list and writing articles. Determine the time and day for each activity.
• Take time weekly to have an extreme focus session for your business. Helen recommends 2 – 3 sessions. This is where you decide on what you need to focus on to move your business forward.

Finally when you are working, remove all distraction like your email and social network page. Try not to take calls except it is important. This way you are able to focus on your activity and get it done on time and not spend the whole day doing so many things that will not add to the progress of your business.

I really like the idea of getting your list of the day done before lunch time so you can do other things and have a sense of accomplishment for the day. You are sure to have a productive day if you follow these tips I promise you.

[Re Post] 7 Benefits of Journaling

The power and ability to achieve greatness lies in everyone because, God has created us with the power to achieve greatness. Our imaginative minds cannot be fathomed. Every limiting factor that we might possess is as a result of our fears and mindsets.

I have discovered that journaling which is an act of writing down our thoughts freely is a great tool in helping individuals to harness their inner thoughts to an outward reality.

Journaling is a powerful tool of self discovery. While journaling, I would advise that you allow yourself to freely write your thoughts and ideas as they come to you. Take some time at the end of the each day or week to reflect on all that you have written in your journal.

The following are some of the benefits of journaling

1. Journaling helps you to build a relationship with yourself – It helps you to discover who you are. It makes you observant of certain patterns and qualities that are unique to you which you take for granted.

2. Journaling helps to reduce any stress that you might be feeling – Writing about your inner most thoughts and experiences helps to bring out things from your sub consciousness that you might not even know was there in the first place.

3. Journaling has healing effects – When you are able to put your thoughts and pains to paper, this is the first step in moving your self from what ever emotional pains that you might have as a result of issues that had taken place in you life or might be ongoing.

4. Journaling helps to identify inherent God given characteristics, qualities and strengths that you might possess.

5. Journaling helps to organise your thoughts and any ideas that you might have.

6. Journaling helps you to focus on what matters the most in your life and how to over come things that might be holding you down.

7. Journaling helps to develop any entrepreneurial qualities that you might possess – Ideas might come to you during the course of your daily activities that could lead to a viable business for you.

Journaling is a wonderful instrument that everyone should embrace. Be honest with your journal entries write just how you feel at that moment and reflect on it later.

You never know what you will learn till you start writing. Then you discover truths you never knew existed – Anita Broonkner.

[Mid Week Inspiration] Teresa Morgan-Jones

Starting this week i will be featuring women in different Multi Level Marketing business and have made a success of their business. If you would like to be featured, just leave a comment.

My name is Teresa Morgan-Jones.
I was first introduced to Forever Living Products 5 years ago.
I’d been a hairdresser for 20 years.
I loved my job but at the time we had just been told that my husband Craig, could be in a wheelchair by the time he was 50, if he didn’t change his career, he’d had an accident in his early 20’s which left him with the bottom 4 vertebrae in his back totally crushed, he had been in the building industry for 25 years.
We had an amazing lifestyle, if Craig couldn’t work then I didn’t know how I was going to keep us in the lifestyle we’d become accustomed to – Forever came along at the right time.

I worked Forever 10 hours a week, very part-time alongside my 50 hours a week in hairdressing.
The support structure and training is second to none, even though you are in business for yourself you are definitely not by yourself, which is why Forever has the Investors In People Gold & Champion Awards.
After 10 months I was earning the same in 10 hours with Forever as I was in 50 hours in my hairdressing job, I was also having more fun with Forever, so I gave up my job.

The amazing thing was that Craig had such great results by taking Forever products, he came off his pain killers, his mobility is great which has allowed him to exercise, lose weight and he has a much better quality of life, he’s not cured but will never stop taking the products, which has also been a great advert.

Since then we haven’t looked back, we slowly cut Craig’s hours down, within 3 years he gave up the building industry completely and to my delight he now works Forever with me.

We both come from a self-employed background, whenever we took time off we didn’t get paid, now we do, neither of us had a pension; we now don’t need to worry about that as Forever is our pension.

Forever has given us the gift of good health, some incredible friend-ships, we now have an International business,
car-plan, international travel, a royalty income that gives us a secure future which allows us to look after our families.
It has given us total peace of mind, we have achieved so much already, but there is so much more to come, it will be the vehicle to allow me to do the charity work I’ve always wanted to do which in the past I have never had the time or money to do, the future is very, very exciting.

For me the most important thing is the fact that I am helping people with their health through our amazing products but also helping people develop a really secure income for them selves & their families, what could be better, the natural act of sharing what you love builds your independent Forever business.

[Mid Week Inspiration] To Succeed in Life/Business…..

Courtesy Office.Microsoft

To succeed in life and in your business never see success as ‘a some day’ theory or a destination. Success is built on success; moving from one victory, win to another win and victory. When you accomplish what you set out to do, that is success. But success is not always so easily achieved without obstacles from others and most importantly from within our selves. How strange.

Circumstances varies for different people and the are locked in situations they never imagined they would ever be but, they say life happens when we don’t make plans and I dare say even when we do make plans and don’t follow through, life still happens .

To succeed in life you must have some basic facts

1. Not everyone will like your dream

2. Not everyone will believe in your dream

3. Not everyone will be happy to see you succeed

4. Don’t base the possibility of your success on other people’s approval of your dream.

5. The only person that needs to believe in your dream without any reasonable doubt is yourself.

6. Trust only in God when all else fails

7. Make sure the dream that you have is not the wish and desire of your parents or some else. You just might spend the better part of your life pursuing a path that is not yours. This is definitely double jeopardy.

8. Enjoy working on your dream. Don’t make it look like life has dealt you a hard blow.

9. Live with intention daily

In working with women I have come to realise three strong factors that are obstacles to their success as entrepreneurs.

1. Trust and believe in themselves and their dreams – Until you believe in yourself and your dream you cannot carry others along.

2. Lack of commitment to follow through on their goal/plans - Without total commitment no one can fully achieve their goals

3. Lack funds to run their business – Funds are most times in short supply

If you desire to succeed never make any excuses step on any obstacles as they shoot at you. You can succeed you just have to keep going even when you don’t feel like. But then what has your feelings got to do with it, just keep going and never let your eyes off your WHY and the big picture.

Looking forward to your comments.

4 Ways to Reposition Yourself/Business for Success

The main reason we set up our businesses is because we want to be successful. Success here can be measured in money which pays the bills, the number of people we are able to help and affect for good and being able to make a difference. But this becomes a defeat when our business is not able to achieve any of these.
How do you react to this type of situation? Do you pack up your business and move on to the next best idea or you stay put and hope and pray that a breakthrough will come your way. I don’t think either of them is a good solution.

Below I would like to share with you 4 ways you can reposition yourself and your business to achieve the success that you desire.

1. Change your Mindset – Our mind is often the spring board where all success and failures begins. If you have a mind set of lack and fear you would definitely manifest this in the way you see your business and carryout your business. Every battle and victories of life must first be won in our minds before we can achieve it.
If you don’t believe in your business and in the success of your business you will act in fear and, no amount of marketing will take you to the success you want. What you mind think is often seen in the ways you act and carry out your business.
It is possible to make a success out of your business but first you mind has to believe in your business and then see victory.

2. Re – evaluate your Dream – How big is your dream? Have you reduced your dream out of fear or you are walking on safe grounds to avoid failure? Out of fear, you may have decided to reduce the size of your dream.
Ask your self these question and be sure to provide an honest answer. Is your dream big enough to have a large market that you can sell to? Are there people who are willing to buy what services or products you have to offer? Be sure to reassess what your business is offering and be clear on this and find ways you can better serve them.
Sometimes our businesses don’t succeed due to lack of consumers/demand for what we are offering. If you find yourself in this position, starting a new business might not be the solution that you need. An expansion/enlargement of your business idea might make the difference.

3. Re evaluate your plan – Is your business plan working and bringing in the customers/clients and on the long run money that your business needs to grow? If the answer is no then, you need to re evaluate your plans or you need new plans altogether.
Spend time working on your plan either with a coach/mentor. Always seek for better ways to monetise and add value to your business and services.

4. Take actions daily – Take action on your plans everyday. Outline what needs to be done who needs to be part of your team to achieve your purpose in business. No matter the size of your dream or what plan you have. Until you start being productive with the actions that you take, you are not going to move forward.
When our minds and our time are re evaluated and we take massive action we will definitely achieve success.

The clock is ticking and days are drawing to the end of the year does your business need re positioning to achieve your goals for the year? Then you definitely need to reposition your self to achieve success.

What is your take on this? Do leave a comment.

8 Ways to Use Social Media Effectively

Courtesy InstantShift

That the social media is the new form of communicating and contracting businesses and getting one’s dream job is no longer news. But how effective is it working for you personally and for your business? As with everything in life the social media has it rules of engagement. If you follow them, the time spent on your various networks and groups will be more meaningful to you and your business.

But before you start joining various social networks you must know why you are online. This must be clear to you before your first tweet or post or article. When you are definitely clear on this, you would know what conversation to take part in, people/ company to accept as friends or follow. If you have been online for some time now take some time and re evaluate the reason why you are on facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Google+. Ask your self am I fulfilling this purpose? If you think you have lost track it never too late to re strategize and focus on you social media goal so you can gain effectively from it.

To effectively use the social media, it is very important that everyone is;

1. Authentic and maintains a credible behaviour. – Don’t pretend to be who you are not let the real you come through in your conversation and what you have to offer if you are a business owner.

2. Have a picture on your profile people want to connect with you first before any wonderful message or product you have to offer. Expect it is a company page/ profile do have your picture on display.

3. Be careful what you write and who you ‘friend’ online. Before accepting anyone as friends especially on facebook be sure to check out the person’s profile. Yes profiles can be doctored but be sure to check a potential friend out before hand. If you have mutual friends see who they are.

4. Plan your time wisely or you just might spend the whole day moving from one profile or site to another site without a predetermined purpose. Know what you want to post and how many people you want to leave a comment on their wall.

5. Have an aim to your social networking daily, weekly and monthly. What do you hope to achieve with your online presence. This will help you engage with others properly.

6. Don’t be a broadcaster learn to converse with others. Reply people’s tweets, leave a comment on their wall. If they say something that resonates with you leave a comment or like their post. It mustn’t all be business add a human voice to your discussions but don’t over do it. Have a balanced mix.

7. Let the topic of discussion / blog post on your web site tie in as much as possible with your tweets and facebook entries if you are a business owner.

8. Use social media to build long lasting relationships, get new clients, and launch your business or your products. Above all use the social media to get the message across that you are real and can be trusted.

Use the social media wisely and effectively.

Mumpreneur Now in the Dictionary

Finally the word Mumpreneur has made its way into the Collins dictionary. This has caused a lot of debates and a sort of love/ hate/indifference conversations. Many people like me have welcomed the development; some people are indifferent while others can’t just seem to understand why Mumpreneurs are different from Entrepreneurs and why they have to get a special name for themselves. Albeit some people see it as seeking for some special consideration but, I don’t think that is what it is all about.

What is my take on this? Let see the definitions of the word Mumpreneur. I featured a guest post some time ago from Eric Douglas of little mummy. I will share a bit of her definition and the rest you can read from my site. Defining the term mumpreneur

‘A mumpreneur is someone who seeks an opportunity, takes a risk or innovates to make the change in her life that will allow her to fulfill her role as a parent in a way that is more meaningful to her’

My definition – I believe the term best describes a woman who is deliberately growing her business organically so she can handle the responsibility of taking care of her family. It is not used to solicit for a special support; it is just what it is; a mum and an entrepreneur working with her kids not far from her workstation.

What makes her different from an entrepreneur? Her underling motive/reason for going into business. Some women have chosen to spend time at home around the family so they can be there for their kids; especially at their developmental stages in life. At the same time, these women have started a business on the side. While I am not judging those who are not able to do this, a mumpreneur is in business first so she can spend time with her family before any financial gains which is not bad but equally important to her.

The Collins dictionary describes the word Mumpreneur as – A woman who combines running business with looking after her children.
What is your take on this? I would love to hear from you.

Stomping Out Domestic Violence

courtesy Laila Jean

Today my post is not about creating a new lifestyle in business but about women who would like to create a new lifestyle from the shadow and aftermath of physical and psychological abuse. It is always in our society and community but we turn our faces because it isn’t happening to us; Domestic Violence. In recent times we have heard and seen stories and pictures of extreme cases. Let’s not condemn in words alone let show our support and help each other.

Everyday women are battered and maimed. They are abused physically and psychologically. The physical abuse ranges from acid bath to mutilation and total disfiguring of the woman and death. I believe the psychological injury is worse; this form of abuse is usually the first stage. The woman is abused and torment by the use of verbal words. Her worthlessness and self esteem is dress down to the point where she believes for a fact that she is worthless.

How inhumane can we be? How evil can a husband who at a point was madly in love with a woman being to torment her to the point of harm. What could have led to the various cases we see and hear about? If your spouse or friend has offended you and it hurts to the bones would physically harming this person make it okay?

Everyone should always honour and respect every relationship that you have permitted into your life. Observe the people you call your friends know what they like and what triggers their temper. That an individual has a temper does not give him the right to harm another to the point of death.
If you observe that you have got a quick temper deal with it. Don’t let your weakness become your down fall and a community’s heart ache.

Friends, its time to rise up and stomp out Abuse in homes, one person at a time. My scar might not be physical, it might be psychological don’t wait till I show up with a physical scar or we hear of a death.
Let’s join hands with Laila Jean and the Acts Generation on October 27, as we match and take a stand against domestic Violence.
