7 Benefits of Journaling

The power and ability to achieve greatness lies in everyone because God has created us with the power to achieve greatness. Our imaginative minds cannot be fathomed. Every limiting factor that we might possess is as a result of our fears.

I have discovered that journaling which is an act of writing down our thoughts freely is a great tool in helping individuals to harness their inner thoughts to an outward reality.

Journaling is a powerful tool for self discovery. While journaling, I would advise that you allow yourself to freely write your thoughts and ideas as they come to you. Take some time at the end of the each day or week to reflect on all that you have written in your journal.

The following are some of the benefits of journaling
1. Journaling helps you to build a relationship with yourself– It helps you to discover who you are. It makes you observant of certain patterns and qualities that are unique to you which you take for granted.

2. Journaling helps to reduce any stress that you might be feeling – Writing about your inner most thoughts and experiences helps to bring out things from your sub consciousness that you might not even know was there in the first place.

3. Journaling has healing effects – When you are able to put your thoughts and pains to paper, this is the first step in moving your self from what ever emotional pains that you might have as a result of issues that had taken place in you life or might be ongoing.

4. Journaling helps to identify inherent God given characteristics, qualities and strengths that you might possess.

5. Journaling helps to organise your thoughts and any ideas that you might have.

6. Journaling helps you to focus on what matters the most in your life and how to over come things that might be holding you down.

7. Journaling helps to develop any entrepreneurial qualities that you might possess - Ideas might come to you during the course of your daily activities that could lead to a viable business for you.

Journaling is a wonderful instrument that everyone should embrace. Be honest with your journal entries write just how you feel at that moment and reflect on it later.

You never know what you will learn till you start writing. Then you discover truths you never knew existed – Anita Broonkner.

Tips to help Deal With Overwhelm in your Business

Being a Solopreneur can be both interesting and at the same time overwhelming. When you are a solopreneur you work alone with probably a remote support or non at the same time. If unchecked, overwhelm and loneliness tends to creep into your workspace. This totally throws one into some sort of dark side where you have various thoughts running through your mind and you see yourself questioning why you have decided to work as a solopreneur.

I can attest to this because I have been there. Recently, I became overwhelm with so much activities going on in my business and I just had to switch off. There was no one physically present to speak with. My first instinct was to shot down everything and spend some quality time with my family.

To avoid having to plunge into this type of situation, it is very important that you have the following in place.

1. Get a virtual assistant – Part of the overwhelm experienced by solopreneurs is as a result of having to assume all roles in your business even those activities that you don’t have expertise in carrying out.
Get a virtual assistance so you can stop struggling and focus on those activities that will help you grow your business.

2. Take a break – When you sense overwhelm lurking near by, just take a break from your business. This could be from few hours to some few days. However, don’t leave the business unattended to for too long.

3. Have an accountability partner – Have someone you can talk to about your business goals and plans that will help keep you in check and accountable.

4. Network with other entrepreneurs – Attend events that your business will benefit from and meet with other business owners learning about new business trends in your industry.

5. Get yourself updated with events in your community – Take some few minutes daily and read the papers, listen to news broadcast. Don’t live an isolated life no man is an island. Take short walk and meet with friends for lunch.

Enjoy your new lifestyle without experiencing any breakdown.

Youth And Entrepreneurship

I was invited for a radio discussion on youth and entrepreneurship recently. It was quite an experience and an insightful one at that.
The program was interactive as well. Listeners were able to call into the program and ask questions. I would say 100% of the callers had issues with funding. The government was largely blamed for the problem. In as much as I would agree that the government has a huge role to play in setting up the right infrastructures in the area of loans/grant and making sure schools have the right curriculum that teaches on how students can acquire entrepreneurship skills. The individual has their own role to play as well. He or she has to be fully ready to assume the new role of being an entrepreneur.

It is very important to be clear on what business you want to start and how viable it is. Do you have a business plan?

When you do get the money required to start your business how do you intend to run the business? These are some of the things that need to be sorted before getting to the point of requesting for loans and grants. Anyone one within any given society has a major role to play in their own growth and development.

Start little with what you have and along the way people will definitely notice you and if what you are offering is promising , people will buy into it.

As an aspiring entrepreneur

1. Be clear on what you want to accomplish

2. Have a business plan

3. Make sure your business idea is tested for viability. A lot of new businesses fail within their first year.

4. Be business focused – Set up business goals and work with them.

5. Plan ahead of time on how to raise funds for your business.

6. make sacrifices where necessary to grow your business

Your destiny lies in your own hands don’t shift the blame take responsibility for your own success and be prepared to create an opportunity when you don’t see any.
Above all remain sincere and focused.

Can I Ask You A Personal Question?

Today’s post is by Bernadette Doyle

There are no stupid questions. The only stupid question is the one that isn’t asked. Whether you’re just starting out or trying to grow your business to even greater heights, I’m sure you have many questions about your next steps. Usually, the questions that come into your mind are more concrete in nature: Who is my audience? Where should I open my business? How should I advertise?

Good questions, but there are others that you may not think to ask – of yourself and about yourself. These questions revolve around the person you need to be in order to achieve the success you want. These questions are so important in your journey of success. This week I invite you to get personal. Look within yourself by considering these 7 questions.

Think about them before answering them, and be sure to answer them honestly. These are the same personal questions I continue to ask myself. These are the questions that help me to propel my business higher and higher every year. I promise you, spending a little focused time here, will reap you great rewards …

Q1.<strong> Are you setting your goals according to what you truly want or what you think you should get? If your perspective is based on what you think you can do or have to do, you’re limiting your business potential. Set your goals based on what you truly want to achieve.

Q2. Do you have a burning desire? When you set out to do something you’ve never done, you are bound to encounter obstacles and hurdles. A burning desire will motivate you to overcome them rather than quitting because the going gets tough.

Q3. Where do you want to be? Design your business on your terms. The lifestyle you want to live, how much vacation you want to take, how many hours you want to work are totally up to you. Map these things out in advance so you can determine how to get there.

Q4. Are you setting the right goals? Setting goals that excite and challenge you will keep you from becoming lazy or complacent. Be careful not to set goals that are so overwhelming that they paralyze you with fear. Keep a balance.

Q5. What do you need to let go of? When you move from one level to another, in life and in business, you have to leave some things behind. It could be a habit, a former acquaintance or a work pattern, but the more old things you carry with you, the harder it is to climb. Let go of the things that hold you back.

Q6. Who do you need to be in order to do this? How you act and react is just as, perhaps even more important, than what you do. Take notice of your habits and your surroundings. Ask yourself if the person you need to be to achieve your goals would live and act this way.

Q7. What is the one critical skill you need? Learning to sell is the most critical skill in any business. The most important investment you can make in yourself is learning to sell one-to-one. Make the conscious commitment to making yourself the best salesperson your business could have.

Asking yourself these personal questions and revealing your personal, honest answers will give you insight on what you need to learn and do to achieve your goals.
Never stop asking yourself questions. Every answer will take you further and further on the road to your success.
